Large-fruited Orange Thorn

Shrub or small tree to 8 m high, branchlets mostly spiny; spines 1 cm long.

Leaves - obovate or cuneate, 5–20 mm long, 2–10 mm wide, the midvein evident only on lower surface, smooth, mostly stemless.

Flowers - solitary and white. Petals 8–10 mm long.

Fruit - smooth round, 2-3cm diameter, pericarp thick, hard, ripening to edible yellow or orange.

Flowering spring to summer

Habitat

Grows in dry sclerophyll forest, dry rainforest and closed scrub, north from Warialda.
