SILVER TURKEY BUSH

Alternative Common Names

bowman’s poverty bush, flannel bush, turkey bush.

Silver-grey shrub to 1.5m high. Covered with soft woolly hairs.

Leaves - alternate, silvery to blue-green, 10-40mm long, 1-4mm wide.

Flowers - blue or lavender, borne singly, on straight or somewhat “S” shaped stalks in the leaf axils. Each flower 10-25mm long, bell-shaped with 5 broad unequal lobes, sparsely downy outside, bearded inside.

Fruit - tapering ovoid drupe, hairless and almost dry.

Flowering winter-summer.

Habitat

Sandplains in mulga communities; red earths in bimble box communities.
