Alternative Common Names

blueberry lily, blue flax-lily, black-anther flax-lily spreading flax-lily.

Tufted, clump forming perennial herb.

Leaves - deep green or grey-green erect, grass-like.

Flowers - stalks rise on wiry stems from the foliage, frequently exceeding it in height, topped with clusters of deep blue to purple flowers.

Fruit - blue to purple and persist for many months after the flowers. Usually round in shape they measure from 4-10mm in diameter and contain 3-4 seeds.

Flowering summer.

Habitat

Mainly on flat areas in mallee communities; also on hill in currawang-tumbledown gum-mugga ironbark communities.
