Alternative Common Names

Bricklow, orkor, brigaloe.

Tree 10m to 25 metres high, the bark on the trunk black and furrowed.

Leaves - silvery-grey, cured, 8-20cm long, 10-20cm broad, with about 7 prominent veins.

Flowers - bright golden-yellow, in globular heads 6-7mm diameter which are clustered on a common stalk in the leaf axils.

Pods - 5-10cm long, about 6mm wide, sometimes curved striated longitudinally.

Flowering spring particularly when seasons have been wet and a very distinctive smell after rain.

Habitat

Frequently forms and dominates dense scrubs on fertile clay and loamy soils.
